Our Team
Our team is comprised of students dedicated to advancing financial literacy.
Kai Kobayashi
CEO/Founder
Kai Kobayashi is a high school student from Okinawa, Japan, the founder of the Global Finance Library, and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Nexa AI.
He developed a deep interest in finance and economics after realizing how profoundly these fields influence opportunity, social mobility, and the direction of global development. As he began studying independently, Kai noticed a major gap: despite finance being essential for modern life, most schools—both in Japan and around the world—offer limited, inaccessible, or outdated resources on the subject.
Determined to change this, Kai founded the Global Finance Library (GFL), a free, bilingual learning platform designed to make financial literacy accessible to every student. Through curated high-quality e-books, educational tools, and student-centered resources, GFL lowers barriers to financial education and empowers young people to understand markets, make informed decisions, and engage with the global economy.
In addition to building the platform, Kai leads outreach to schools worldwide, develops new learning pathways, and promotes financial education across communities. He is also spearheading the Japan Youth Investment Competition, a nationwide initiative created under GFL to give students hands-on experience with investing, teamwork, and real-world financial problem-solving.
Kai believes that finance and economics are not just academic subjects—they are powerful tools for empowerment. Through his work, he aims to inspire a new generation of globally minded students equipped with the knowledge to navigate, shape, and improve the world’s financial future.

Ambassadors
Our ambassadors represent diverse schools and regions, helping spread financial education to students everywhere.
Toma Ihara
Sendai Ikuei High School
Toma Ihara is a high school student in Japan and an aspiring social entrepreneur passionate about finance, leadership, and global collaboration. As the founder of LIFT (Leadership, Innovation, Friendship, Together), a youth-led nonprofit organization connecting students across regions and countries, he works to create platforms where young people can develop initiative, cross-cultural understanding, and practical problem-solving skills. Toma’s interest in economics and investment grew from his realization that financial literacy shapes not only individual success, but also societal equity and long-term innovation. He has participated in programs and competitions such as Stanford e-Entrepreneurship Japan, the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition, and other international academic initiatives, where he explored how capital, technology, and policy intersect in the real world. Through these experiences, he recognized that many students are curious about investing but lack structured, hands-on opportunities to learn by doing. As an Ambassador of the Japan Youth Investment Competition, Toma aims to bridge that gap by encouraging students to engage with markets critically, ethically, and strategically. He believes that investment education should go beyond profit, it should cultivate analytical thinking, responsibility, and a global perspective. By supporting outreach, student engagement, and community building, he hopes to empower the next generation to approach finance not only as a career path, but as a tool to create meaningful impact.
